ALEHM Call for Action from OPSS
The following letter outlines the challenges resulting from mixed messages coming from Government around the ‘Stay at Home’ message. Local authorities are trying to enforce the spirit of the Covid-19 legislation by advising businesses to follow the guidance, but the inability to enforce the guidance is allowing some non-essential retail to be open and is encouraging the public to go out for non-essential shopping. This leads to wider concern that it will take much longer for the rate of infection to reach safe levels. The letter provides recommended actions which will help reduce footfall around busy retail areas in London.
