Excess Cold 2nd December 2024
Cold homes have immediate impacts on people’s health and wellbeing: living in cold properties exacerbates illness, contributes to NHS costs and are closely related excess winter deaths, so this is a vital part of a housing inspection when looking at hazards.
The training is aimed at those working in private sector housing, but will also be of interest to others. This session will examine the following
- consider the impacts of cold on health as well as fuel poverty and excess Winter deaths.
- the cycle of decay in housing covering relevant elements of construction,
- insulation and energy efficiency
- the application of HHSRS and associated enforcement measures to address excess cold through case studies and recent worked examples.
